Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) September 4, 2013

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet.

Kristin and I arrived in New York City early Wednesday (September 4) morning, after a not so great 8 hour bus ride. We slept a little on the long bus ride, I was still a little tired, but was so excited to be in this amazing city that I wanted to hurry and site see. After getting dressed, we wandered around the area close to our hotel and ended up in Times Square, this is what I wore.

I wanted to be stylish and comfortable,so I opted to wear my "I Love My Ethnicity" T-shirt,which has been featured in an old closet post. I layered it with a black cami from Forever 21,I love their cami's, they are such a steal for only $2.00.  You can find this cami here: www.forever21.comI paired it with a simple black mini skirt that I purchased at H&M, it doubles as a tube top when needed. The skirt was also super cheap for about $5.00. I couldn't find the exact skirt at H&M, but I found a similar one here: www.forever21.com.

I didn't pack many shoe options, so I decided to wear my black oxfords paired with black lacey socks for added flair. They actually turned out to be quite comfy. I bought these lacey socks at a lingerie store, they always have the best leg wear. I found a similar pair here: http://www.sears.com/. My black oxfords are from Aldo, I've actually had them for a few  years.  Here are a pair similar to mine: http://www.aldoshoes.com.

Now on to the fun part, my accessories. I believe they are all past closet post features. I found these earrings at a vendor event in Atlanta during the Bronner Brothers Hair Show, I think they were about $10. My sunglasses are Marc by Marc Jacobs, I purchased them at Macy's many years ago. I like the Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglass line because they are fairly inexpensive for designer sunglasses. Mine were under $100. I found a similar pair at  Nordstrom.  My bracelets are a combination of Stella & Dot, gifts from Ghana and India, and an Ohio State Fair vendor.

Kristin let me borrow the crossbody bag, I didn't have anything to carry other than a clutch, and being in a big city such as New York, it's always best to carry a crossbody! I was thankful she had the bag, because it matched my outfit perfectly.

We had an absolute blast in NYC. Stay tuned with us this week for our New York Diaries series!

What do you think of my look?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet.

Friday, I met up with Kristin to do some shopping for a themed event we were attending that night. I planned to be cute and casual. Also, I wanted to wear pink to show my support in stopping the violence against the LGBT community that has been taken place locally. This is what I wore.

My pink Kangol hat is super old, I believe it was purchased on a NYC trip. At one point I was really obsessed with Kangol hats, and I had many different styles. I don't wear hats as much now, unless my hair is twisted.

I love this giraffe t-shirt wearing turquiose sunglasses. I bought this from my favorite store Target, for $10.00. I purchased this shirt to pair with floral jeans, but have since found other ways to wear it.

I found these fluorescent peach jeans at Madewell, on sale of course. They were originally   $89.99, on  sale for 31.99, final sale, a steal. I was in a hurry when I purchased them, I didn't even try them on, I grabbed my size and left. I'm not really sure if there are more left, but Madewell is at Easton Town Center, sale items are always in the back left corner.  The jeans are designed by BLANKNYC, find these same jeans on the site, although they are not on sale.

I purchased these sandals last summer, they are denim with chains around the ankles, purchased from Bakers. I know they currently have similar styles, but not with denim. My handbag was a gift from Ghana, I love this bag, the print and color are so me. My knit earrings are from our "Cotton Candy" collection, you can see similar styles in our online shop.

Are you wearing brights this summer?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) May 4, 2013

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet.
I have not been doing many closet blogs...I've had a lot of missed opportunities, my goal this summer is to do more. Wish me luck!:)

This weekend was pretty slow for me. I had to work a few hours on Saturday afternoon, and I knew I was going to a birthday celebration later, so I wanted to be cute and comfortable, that way I wouldn't have to change after work! This is what I came up with.

When coming up with this outfit, I chose my accessories first. I knew I wanted to wear the beaded necklace and bracelets, that led me to the outfit choice. This was my first time wearing the necklace/earrings/matching bracelets. A friend from Ghana ordered these pieces from a woman in Ghana who makes jewelry by hand, I was really excited when he gave them to me, not only did I love the culture behind the jewelry, but also the craftsmanship. Kristin and I create handmade jewelry and I love supporting fellow artisans!

The cream lace top is from Forever 21, I love this top and probably wear it a little too much! It's so easy to pair with many different looks, this time I opted for the neon pink tank which is from Target. I couldn't find this same exact shirt, but here is a similar one. My jeans are Abercrombie & Fitch, of course I purchased them on sale, they were like 40% off, which is the only time I purchase jeans from abercrombie, I'm frugal, not paying full price!

My printed scarf is also from Forever 21, it was $8.00, I love this scarf because I also rock it as a stylish head wrap. Forever 21 has been having some really cute cheap scarves. I want more.

I did an "arm party" on both wrist, I figured it only made sense, since I was wearing ethnic jewelry. The orange and multi colored bracelets on my right arm are from Ghana, and the gold bangles with the colored beads are from the  World Market at Easton. On the left I have on gold Stella & Dot bangles, and the multi colored beaded bracelet I purchased from a vendor at The Ohio State Fair for $5.oo.

My pewter oxfords are from Shoetique in Columbus, Ohio. I love these shoes because they are so neutral I can wear them with anything, and they are comfy!

Please check out this link to the woman who made my jewelry: B.e.a.d's BEAD Accessories

What do you think of my look? Do you support your local artisans?

Until Next Time, Ciao!
