The Last Word by Karen

Earring Jackets, Cuffs , Crawlers and Doubles
Ear Art
Earrings and cuff from Baublebar

I have several pairs of earring jackets that I inherited from my mother. They are gold and elegant yet simple, a far cry from the more edgy jackets and cuffs we wear today. In the 70's earring jackets were worn with the jacket appearing on the front of the ear lobe and were a way to "dress up" diamond earring studs.  Today we wear the earring jacket on the back side of the ear lobe giving it a much different look. Doubles, where there are two decorative sides to the earring front and back, are becoming more prevalent.  The trendy new earring jackets, are not my mothers jackets.

Old School vs New School:  Top row my mothers earring jackets from the late 70's early 80's Bottom row new trend.

I have seen many women in the media working the new versions of earrings but not many women of a particular age or those who dress conservatively.  I am a fan and have several pairs of jackets, doubles, crawlers and cuffs.

Try a pair of one or all four styles, experiment.  If you have old jackets wear them the trendy way with the jacket on the back of the ear. They add interest to your accessories and  are works of art!

Count Down To Year 3 (Leather Anniversary)

In ten days we will be celebrating three years as bloggers. That makes it our leather anniversary! We are so excited about the month to come! The anniversary is July 9th but we have planned a month filled with great posts, ChristinaKristin discounts and a giveaway!

We met Saturday to do a little shopping at the West Gate community yard sale. We treated ourselves to some Thai food and then it was business as usual. We discussed our growth as bloggers and goals for the future of the blog and our crafts. We look forward to this new year and our many new ideas coming to realization. Look for updates to the blog and more access to ChristinaKristin through new outlets. More details on the way soon! We hope you had a great weekend! We will leave you with a few highlights from our weekend!

Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!

Fun Fashion Friday

It's 'Fun Fashion Friday'! In these posts I will bring you the playful side of fashion. Fashion doesn't always have to be so serious. I am a big fan of really funky, fun pieces. I admit to loving my fun or bizarre items more than the classic ones; even if some of my friends hate and make fun of them. After all, fashion is about self expression and SHOULD BE fun.

Occasionally I will come across something I absolutely love on social media. Today I want to talk about a handbag designer that I ran across on instagram. The brand is called Luna On The Moon by Kirsty Fate. The designer is based out of East London. The fun and playful brand is named after Kirsty's pet rabbit, Luna.

Glittery handbags and accessories take the shape of everyday things like storm clouds, fried eggs and the windows of our souls, the eye. There are also some not so common things like rainbows and flying pigs. Have you ever heard the phrase "when pigs fly"? Well, they do at Luna On The Moon! The newest addition are a series of bottle bags inspired by condiments and things that either does a body good "milk" or not so good like gin or poison. I love them all! If none of these strike your fancy, Kirsty does custom orders. I'm sure it may cost a little extra but her imagination and craftsmanship may just be worth it. You can find her shop on etsy or use the live link above!

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin. Welcome to my closet!

Last week, I posted about Kristin and I being "It Girls" for Rocksbox. Today I am going to share with you how I wore 2 of the pieces. Kristin and I had a longstanding date to go to Paint Nite at Bar 145 in Grandview. If you are not familiar, Paint Nite also called Wine & Painting is held in a bar/restaurant where you can enjoy cocktails while you paint. The event was really cool the host played great music and had lots of energy the whole night. I have to admit I was a bit nervous at first, I just couldn't get past the thought of destroying my blank canvas, but once I got started I had so much fun. I can't wait to do it again. My outfit was pretty simple, since we were working with acrylic paints I did not want to  make a mess in "good" clothes.

Rocksbox It Girls!!!

We are so excited to join the Rocksbox Influencer community as "It Girls".  If you have not heard of Rocksbox, don't worry it is still relatively new to the market, so you have time to catch up. Rocksbox is making all the rage with their subscription based jewelry box concept. How it works:

1. Take the style survey and add items to your jewelry wishlist.

2. Each piece is hand-selected for you based on your style and specific requests. Wear your pieces as much as you want.

3.Return your Rocksbox pieces anytime and as often as you like. Every set has 3 pieces of designer jewelry, worth an average of $200 per set.

After I signed up, I received my box about a week later, it actually arrived a day earlier than expected. I was so excited to open it, and see what pieces the stylist chose for me. When the package finally came I ripped open the envelope to see a small white box with a black bow. The presentation was awesome, from the personalized note, to the black and white chevron tissue paper. Each piece of jewelry was tucked securely into a small black chiffon jewelry bag, under the jewelry lies the free shipping label to send the items back.

Next week, check out the Chris's/Kris's closet series, Kristin and I will both wear the jewelry and you will see how we decided to pair the pieces in our own way with our own style.

In the meantime, sign up for your Rocksbox subscription for just $19 a month, or the better option is to use code christinakristinxoxo and you will receive 1 free month of Rocksbox, who doesn't love love free? Sign up by going to www.rocksbox.com.

Until Next Time,

Ciao, Chris!

Kris's Closet

In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them and where I wore them. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Yesterday was the first day out with my nephew since his summer break began. We started our summer adventures with a tour of the American Whistle Corporation's Factory. There we walked through the entire process of creating a whistle and learned about the history of the company. My nephew snapped a few photos of me in front of the factory before the tour. This was what I wore.

I wanted to be comfortable so I put on my summer uniform, a tee and skirt. I also wore a pair of sneaker wedges because we had a lot of walking to do. As you can see, I am briefly wearing my hair straight.

Tee: Erika from Anderson's General Store
Skirt: Mossimo from Target
