Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) June 14, 2013

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet.

Friday, I met up with Kristin to do some shopping for a themed event we were attending that night. I planned to be cute and casual. Also, I wanted to wear pink to show my support in stopping the violence against the LGBT community that has been taken place locally. This is what I wore.

My pink Kangol hat is super old, I believe it was purchased on a NYC trip. At one point I was really obsessed with Kangol hats, and I had many different styles. I don't wear hats as much now, unless my hair is twisted.

I love this giraffe t-shirt wearing turquiose sunglasses. I bought this from my favorite store Target, for $10.00. I purchased this shirt to pair with floral jeans, but have since found other ways to wear it.

I found these fluorescent peach jeans at Madewell, on sale of course. They were originally   $89.99, on  sale for 31.99, final sale, a steal. I was in a hurry when I purchased them, I didn't even try them on, I grabbed my size and left. I'm not really sure if there are more left, but Madewell is at Easton Town Center, sale items are always in the back left corner.  The jeans are designed by BLANKNYC, find these same jeans on the site, although they are not on sale.

I purchased these sandals last summer, they are denim with chains around the ankles, purchased from Bakers. I know they currently have similar styles, but not with denim. My handbag was a gift from Ghana, I love this bag, the print and color are so me. My knit earrings are from our "Cotton Candy" collection, you can see similar styles in our online shop.

Are you wearing brights this summer?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) August 30, 2012 Birthday Edition!

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristinwelcome to my closet!

This past week I had a birthday, I will not disclose my age! My friends and I had a blast, we had cocktails at Franklin Park Conservatory, light food and more drinks at a friend's house, then we went to shake a tail feather at a local nightclub. I had the most challenging time finding an outfit for this day, I knew that I didn't want to spend too much. I literally found this outfit, about 3 hours before the festivities began.

I finally had a chance to shop at Madewell, as you may know I have been stalking this store. The nude pink crochet top was $29.99, a steal, I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. I found a similar top at http://www.etsy.com/listing/104355650/.

Of course I had to layer the tank, so I opted to go with a monochromatic look. Up under the crochet tank I wore a scoop tank dress that I purchased at Nordstrom in the bp section.  I love this dress because you can do so much with it. The store had a variety of colors, and I will be going back for more. The dress was only $24...not bad.  You can find this same dress at http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bp-double-scoop-tank-dress-juniors/3303118?origin=category&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Grey-+Truffle&resultback=560.

All of my jewelry is Stella & Dot. This statement piece is the Sierra Necklace, one of my favorites. You can find it at http://shop.stelladot.com/style/b2c_en_us/n272g.html

My arm candy and cocktail ring are Stella & Dot as well. Find them at www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn. This super cute clutch is from the thrift store, I cannot remember which one at this time, I believe it was only $1.99. There are plenty to choose from on etsy, but this one in particular is pretty cute, find it at http://www.etsy.com/listing/84274184.

My sparkly shoes were a cross between gold and champagne colors. They are Steve Madden and I paid $59.95, plus a $5 discount for my birthday!:) I bought them at DSW.
Find them here: http://www.dsw.com/shoe/sm+women%27s+gaylee+glitter+pump?prodId=dsw12prod3830076&productRef=SEARCH

Franklin Park Conservatory is a very pretty place, we got carried away with taking pictures! I absolutely loved my birthday outfit. I have already worn the scoop tank dress with something else, these are going to become staples in my wardrobe, I can tell.

    Until Next Time, Ciao!

Style Crush

Every woman has a crush on another woman, whether it's because of her amazing hair, her confidence, or in this case her sense of style. We will be highlighting women whose style we have a crush on, either a celeb or an average Jane. Enjoy!!

Madewell

This week's style crush is not a person, but a store I have a crush on. Essentially we have a crush on someone that we like or admire, but have not yet attained that person or an attribute of that person. Well, that is how I feel about Madewell, I love the vibe when I go into the store, every single item on the rack appeals to me. I have yet to shop there because they are a little pricey for my budget, but maybe one day. Until then I will continue to stalk the store on a consistent basis.

Madewell has a very vintage inspired feel, from the fabrics they use to the choice of prints. The quality of the clothing does balance out the high prices. If you like vintage clothing, but don't like the hassle of shopping in second hand stores, Madewell is perfect for you. The jewelry is amazing just as it is in their "Big Sister" store J.Crew.

This is what I am used to seeing when I go into the Madewell store and when I peruse the website. The look is pretty plain, but I love the color blocking, and the monochromatic blues. Her outfit has a lot more potential, I would accessorize it more.

Now how much more inspiring is this?

Using Solange Knowles as the face of Madewell was a great marketing strategy. She will definitely bring a different customer base to the company. The way she rocks her Madewell makes me want to shop in the store even more. I may be biased because she is a fellow naturalista. :)

If you are in Columbus, check out the Madewell store at Easton Town Center. They are also online at www.madewell.com. If you go into the store pick up the monthly newsletter, you will find some good fashion tips.

Until next time,Ciao!
