Caesar Creek Markets
7763 Ohio 73
Wilmington, Ohio 45177
Saturday I went to Caesar Creek Flea Market. I have been a couple times around this time last year. I really like this place. You can find anything there from tools, clothing, food, pets and even an eye doctor. Now, I don't think I would see an eye doctor at a flea market but I am sure the doc probably offers great rates. This place is also a great place for people watching.
The flea market is huge! There are vendors inside and outside. You have to go to this place with time to really look around. I always find great boots outside this time of year.
My favorite lot is 5021. The couple who use to own a boot store, has both an inside and outside space with some of the best cowboy boots and shoes I have seen. The best part is, they carry shoes for my size five feet. If you are like me, struggling to find little shoes, come visit the couple. The inside space is 138 in building 1.With the holidays coming, this flea market is also a great place to find stocking stuffers and gifts for low prices. You can find tons of hair accessories, scarves and cosmetics.
There are seven inside aisles with five officially operating with vendors. Inside the building, I find the best vintage and fashion jewelry. Once you go thru a few strange shops and pass a couple stores full of Confederate flags and accessories, you start finding really friendly people with shops like Terry's at Sapphyre's Closet.
In Sapphyre's Closet, the jewelry is trendy and sold at wholesale prices. I saw items there that I have seen in high end department stores. She carries jewelry sets, necklaces, earrings and more.
One of my favorite pieces was this leopard necklace with tassel. The price was only $6. Sapphyre's Closet will be moving to inside space 144 and open this weekend. Here is what I left the flea market with:
Sapphyre's Closet left to right: silver fringe and rhinestone, gold and pearl, silver and pearl & colorful peacock Total $10 |
Lot 5021 leather & snake skin cowboy boots Total $24 |
Mermaid of Tears
1123 Mcarthur Rd. ( Jeffersonville Crossing)
Jeffersonville, Ohio 45177
My fella stopped at Jeffersonville Crossing to find boots. While he browsed I walked over to a shop we passed on the way to the boot shop. Once inside I saw lots of jewelry and pieces of artwork. I was greeted immediately and informed about all the items in the store.
Mermaid of Tears houses a few different jewelry designers' pieces, including pieces by owner Tanya Mincer. She also carries paintings from local artists. A crafter and artist of many medias herself, Tanya also displays and sells revamped baskets, furniture, vases and home decor pieces. Taking recycling to a new level, she paints, adds and takes away from things we may have thrown away or donated because we no longer saw a use for. She takes these items and makes them beautiful and new again. Her added touches bring a new appreciation for a basket or broken down piece of furniture. While I was visiting, she went over her plans for a cabinet in the middle of the room that she was in the process of working on. At the present time it's just a open face old cabinet but it will soon be transformed into a beautiful wine cabinet.

I enjoyed the bright hand-painted silk scarves.
As a accessory designer myself, I had to check out the mini hats and vintage accessories. I ran across a couple pairs of vintage gloves and tried them all on. With my little hands, vintage seems to fit better because women use to be much smaller.
I left the store with a pair of vintage dinner gloves. They were a little discolored but nothing a little dye can't fix. $2.00 I love them.
If you are in the area, stop in to see Tanya. She has workshops on Thursdays for beading, painting and crafting. I am definitely glad I stopped in. I'm thinking Mermaid of Tears may be a great home for some of my work one day.
Look for these items in future closet blogs! Fashionista's, antiquers & store owners! Got a store or area I should visit? Leave me a comment.
Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!
