Chris's/Kris's Closet (Kristin) December 9, 2012

Kris's Closet

Inspired by some great bloggers, my partner and I decided to start our own blog. In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Sunday, one of my good friends had an event at her home called Tea & Treats. It was a jewelry and cosmetics event. I set up ChristinaKristin & Shoetique merchandise and there was one other vendor there who provided jewelry, skincare and cosmetics. It was a nice idea and the food was good. One of the guests took these pictures for me at the party. This is what I wore.
It was raining all day Sunday so I decided my outfit needed to be a pick-me-up. I pulled out my neons and layered for the weather. I have worn the neon green top once before, it is a Mossimo tee from Target. The leopard top I layered on top is vintage Adrienne Vittadini Sport. It is an old thrift store buy. My mini skirt is a neon piece I got from Shoppers World on the west side of Columbus. I have wore the same skirt in another color in my very first Kris's Closet in July. The necklaces I layered are all from Shoetique. I have worn these before in a closet blog. You can find the beaded ones at the store in Town & Country for under $10. My earrings are closet regulars. I wore them alot this past summer. They are from a store in Chicago called Mali. Check out more pieces from them at their site.
https://malijewelry.com/default.asp.
The rest of my accessories have also been seen on closet posts. The purse is a ten year old Louis Vuitton (Papillion) I bought from the Mall at Millenia in Orlando. The style is no longer available. My ring matches my earrings and is from Mali of Chicago. The knit bangle is the Cotton Candy bangle and can be found in our etsy shop at:
My boots are new. I ruined my last pair of brown boots by dropping soybean oil on them, so I ordered a new pair recently from Zappos. They are Chinese Laundry (South Bay) in henna. You can find them online at http://www.zappos.com/chinese-laundry-south-bay-henna?zlfid=111&recoName=zap_brand_page

This concludes another Kris's Closet. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample,a month ago we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. The best way to describe us if personalities were colors would be red and hot pink. I am the red personality because I am usually wild, passionate and bold with fashion and in life. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my
closet!

Saturday I went to the Urban Scrawl in the Franklinton Arts District. I was excited about everything I saw. Art in progression was everywhere! As an artist, I was inspired. I looked around outside and in and took pictures of work I loved. After the art festival, I went home and had wine on the patio with my fella. I took my photos at the Urban Scrawl. This is what I wore.
I wore a lace and muslin cape that I belted over a white beater. The cape is an old piece from Forever 21. My diamond print circle skirt is from The Ohio Thrift Store.
My sunglasses are now closet blog repeats. They are Cole Haan cat-eyes (C6048)
My shoes are Type Z sandals in distressed gold leather, also repeats. Sold out! I can't find similar shoes anywhere.
My straw clutch, copper cuff bracelets and turquoise jewelry set have also been on many closet blogs so I won't bore you with a bunch of the same info. To keep it short and sweet, visit http://www.etsy.com/ for copper cuffs and straw clutches. The site has lots of both. The earrings, ring and bracelet set are from Mali in Chicago. Visit their site to see more items @ https://malijewelry.com/default.asp

This concludes another Kris's Closet. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Kris,

One of my favorite pieces from the Urban Scrawl, unfortunately I can't find the name of the artist. Let me know if you know! I want to know this artist's name!

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample,a month ago we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. I am the red personality because I am usually wild, passionate and bold with fashion and in life. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!
I went to Bucyrus, Ohio for their Bratwurst Festival early Saturday evening. I had a very low key and uneventful morning and afternoon, so I was excited to finally get out of the house. I have been eating better lately to get rid of some of the weight I have gained this past eight months but at the festival I planned to eat what I wanted and indeed I did. I had brats, fried cheese on a stick, fries, ice cream and more. The food was great but even better was a spontaneous vintage shopping moment at Authentiques and meeting the most polite monkey ever. Yes, I am talking about a real monkey with manners. I put on an outfit that I thought would be comfortable and forgiving, considering the food I was about to eat. This is what I wore.
My skinny jeans are Mossimo from Target.

Since my back was open and I was not going without a bra, I opted for a matching neon pink beater to go up under the tunic. I purchased this beater at Meijers for $8. I did not find the beaters on their site. However, I found a website that just sells beaters in a variety of colors and for cheap @ http://www.freshbeaters.com/page/403261570
My sunglasses I wear often, they are my go to gold/silver combo D&G aviators (6065). My earrings are also closet blog repeats from Mali on Michigan Ave in Chicago.
My necklace premiered the first time this month in my Style Adventures Vol. 4 blog. It was purchased a couple weeks ago at the Chesterville Flea Market from a vendor. I payed 25 cents for it. If you like my necklace check out this one from etsy @ http://www.etsy.com/listing/106306007/large-dramatic-vintage-brass-ethnic?ref=sr_gallery_6&ga_search_query=large+brass+ethnic+necklace&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_page=1&ga_search_type=all
My bracelets and ring are all closet regulars. I have worn them in many closet blogs. The copper cuffs are from vintage stores, thrift stores and the bottom one with all the turquoise stones is from the gift shop at the outdoor drama in Chillicothe, Tecumseh. The ring and matching bracelet go with my earrings. Again, all of them are from Mali in Chicago. My Louis Vuitton I purchased almost ten years ago at the LV store at The Mall at Millenia in Orlando. It was my first Louis Vuitton. The style is called Papillon. I am guessing my particular bag is no longer being produced but I found a similar one on the LV website @ http://www.louisvuitton.com/front/#/eng_US/search/PAPILLON The distressed
gold leather sandals I am wearing are Type Z (Desert). They are sold out and I have not found anything similar.

Welcome to my closet!

Saturday was a miserable and hot day! I went to Lexington, Ohio for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. I did not know that these car races were three hours long. Grey's Anatomy fans, Patrick Dempsey (Mc Dreamy) was there racing in the Le Mans Series. I added a picture of his car at the end of today's blog. I was sitting outside in 93 degree temperatures in a captains chair sweating but not enough to keep myself from feeling faint. Then when the fella and I couldn't take it anymore we left and headed toward home. We stopped at a flea market in Chesterville then went to a party to celebrate my friend's husband graduating from the Columbus Fire Department Academy. Go Elijah! I took my photos in the park next to their condo. This is what I wore.
My dress I got from Kohls this week on the clearance rack in the juniors department for $10. It is by Mudd. I loved the ethnic look of it and it was very comfortable when I tried in on in the store. It ties and gathers at the waist and has a crochet back. I found similar dresses @http://www.dillards.com/product/Rampage-Printed-CrochetBack-Dress_301_-1_301_503240824?cm_mmc=Linkshare-_-J84DHJLQkR4-_-null-_-null&linkshare=http://www.shopstyle.com/affiliate & http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/crosssells/juniors/dressapparel/dresses/PRD~1093859/City+Triangles+Geometric+Crochet+Racerback+Dress.jsp My wicker body chain is by Candice Cox of CanDid Art Accessories @http://www.candidartaccessories.com/.
My brown cat-eye sunglasses are Cole Haan (C6048) from Nordstrom Rack. I found the same pair online @
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RVHIIW?ie=UTF8&tag=fantastic-gui-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B007RVHIIW

My turquoise earrings are a part of a set I wear often. They go with my bracelet and ring I usually wear with my copper jewelry. The set came from Mali on Michigan Ave in Chicago. You can find some of their pieces @https://malijewelry.com/default.asp
These are my copper bracelets and the rest of my Mali set. You can find copper cuff bracelets at thrift stores and vintage shops. Online I always suggest http://www.etsy.com/ and http://www.overstock.com/. My straw clutch I have carried before on a Kris's Closet blog. I gave specific suggestions for the clutch the first time I blogged about it so I don't have any this time. A place to find great straw clutches is also on  http://www.etsy.com/ . It is my favorite online place to shop.
My distressed gold leather sandals are Type Z (Desert). I also own them in black and have worn them in a few closet blogs. The closest sandals with this particular toe that I have found are @ http://www.overstock.com/Worldstock-Fair-Trade/Womens-Leather-and-Hand-beaded-Fabric-Sandals-India/6068388/product.html.  Here is a pair of  gold leather sandals as well @ http://www.shoethief.com/shop-designers/dolce-vita-sachi-gold-leather-flat-sandal.html

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample, we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. Welcome to my closet!

Friday I spent some time with a friend Naima from high school who had just graduated from the school of Aveda. She came over and we played catch up while she did my nails and toes for me because they really needed some help. Thank god for her! Then I got dressed to go to dinner with my fella at Mary Kelly's in Dublin. We took these photos out front before we ate. I was not notified by my photographer aka the fella, that my bra strap was showing the entire time. =(
I wore a tie dye empire waist top by a brand called Casual Freedom that I got from TJ Maxx several years ago with a pair of target brand Mossimo, mid-rise, skinny, fit 4/curvy jeans. Find jeans @ http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=mossimo+jeans&category=0%7CAll%7Cmatchallpartial%7Call+categories
Click on the links below to view similar tops.

The large statement piece is a wicker body chain by Candice Cox in New York. The brand is called CanDid Art Accessories.  She has some crazy amazing pieces including this one @ http://www.candidartaccessories.com/
Here is a close up on the complete body jewelry piece. It is my new favorite accessory and I would buy one of almost everything she makes if I could. I get compliments on this every time I wear it. Love! Love! Love!

My sunglasses are gold and silver D&G aviators (6065). I got them last summer at Nordstrom. The earrings are wood earrings I found at an antique shop on the way to Sandusky, Ohio. Click on the links below to view similar sunglasses and earrings.

My turquoise and gold cuff and matching ring I got in Chicago at Mali. It is a store on Michigan Ave. You can find some of their pieces @ https://malijewelry.com/default.asp. My other bracelets in my "arm party" are copper cuffs I have picked up from thrift stores, vintage shops and the newest one with the turquoise at the base of my left wrist came from the Tecumseh gift shop. I gave some copper cuff suggestions in my closet blog from 7/8. You can find lots of copper cuffs @ http://www.overstock.com/ and http://www.etsy.com/
The clutch I got just shy of a month ago. It is a leather bag by Ann Taylor that I bought at Buffalo Exchange in Chicago. The original price was $138.00. I know this because the original tag was still attached. It looked new and unused. I paid $19.50 plus tax. Click on the links below to view similar clutches.

Theses are brown leather sandal booties by Levity from DSW. They are still available @ http://www.dsw.com/shoe/levity+echo+bootie?prodId=dsw12prod3820311&productRef=SEARCH
They are definitely a couple hour shoes. My feet hurt after two/three hours.

Thank you for stopping by my closet! Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!
Kris,
