Kris's Closet

In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them and where I wore them. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

I love Memorial Day weekend! The holiday usually kicks off my travel season. Monday I went with my guy to Lake Erie to celebrate the holiday. We started at the Walleye Festival in Port Clinton, where we had one of the best fried fish sandwiches either of us has ever eaten. The festival was right next to the water so we spent a lot of time gazing at the water. We left the festival and headed to one of our favorite junk food spots, Great Lakes Popcorn Company where I got some Citrus flavored popcorn that tasted a lot like Fruit Loops. We had Margaritas in Margaritaville in Sandusky, Ohio. In the area we also had dinner at a restaurant that was just okay. The last stop anytime we are in the area is always Toft's  Ice Cream Parlor. The small cone is literally four scoops of ice cream.

Since I was going to the lake I wore my boat shoes. I wanted to be prepared in case it was cool by the lake so I layered a button up over a tee shirt dress. I love to pattern mix so I paired leopard accessories with my Aztec printed shirt. This was Monday's look.

Kris's Closet

Inspired by some great bloggers, my partner and I decided to start our own blog. In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Saturday I organized and attended a party for my girlfriend's belated birthday. We had Jamaican food, rum punch and reggae music. Afterward I took some out of town guests out to the Arena District and we bar hopped. I took these photos in the backyard of the house where we had the party. This is what I wore.
I love the warm weather months and my warm weather accessories and clothing. Right on trend with stripes, this dress I have had for many years now. The striped strapless dress is by Liquid. I bought it at the Barney's Outlet store in some suburb of New York. Check out the similar dresses below.

My yellow linen jacket is a thrift store purchase I bought last spring. I found a similar blazer at:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009Q257JW/ref=asc_df_B009Q257JW2501565?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B009Q257JW&tag The wicker body chain was my favorite accessory piece last year and I still love it so much. It is by Candice Cox of New York at CandidArtAccessories. Find this necklace at: http://www.etsy.com/listing/86728627/wicker-chain?ref=shop_home_active
The faux wood grain heart ring is from a vendor I ran into at the Macy's Music Festival. The bangle bracelets are from Shoetique in Columbus and the Valley Thrift Store in Dayton. My leopard clutch is from the Buffalo Exchange in Chicago. It is a calf hair bag by Ann Taylor. Find a similar bag at: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Leopard-Haircalf-Clutch/WH00106,default,pd.html?cmp=AFC_CJ_
These shoes I bought from DSW last year. They were searched a lot through google which brought a lot of new people to our blog. They are the Levity Echo Bootie. These are no longer available but I found a similar pair at: http://www.yoox.com/us/44479350WK/item?dept=women&tp=11227&utm_campaign=affiliazione_us&utm_content=10&utm_medium=affiliazione&utm_source=linkshare_us#cod10=44479350WK&sizeId=

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample,a month ago we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. The best way to describe us if personalities were colors would be red and hot pink. I am the red personality because I am usually wild, passionate and bold with fashion and in life. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Saturday I went to Scioto Downs Racino with my fella and Christina aka Chris. We met my sister and some of her friends there to celebrate my sister's birthday. It was a good time! My fella, Chris and I had dinner in the Clubhouse where Chris and I helped my fella pick horses to bet on. We watched and bet on the races while we ate. We also played the slot machines once my sister got there. I am not a gambler but since you got free money to play on your first visit there, I thought what the heck. I got $25 for free to play and won $25 back. At least I left $25 richer than I started. We stayed there for most of the night then ended up at a lounge that I am not a fan of. I guess I am getting old so I only lasted maybe an hour before I was ready to go home. I took these pictures at Scioto Downs. This is what I wore.

I wore a leopard print strapless jersey dress that a friend of the family gave me a few years ago. It fits no matter how much I gain or lose because of the stretch so it is one of my favorite dresses. The tag fell off a while ago so I am not sure who made it anymore. The pink cotton jacket is from the thrift store. I think an Ohio Thrift Store. It came with culottes that I will probably never wear. Click on links to view similar items.

My leather leopard clutch I have featured once before on a closet blog. It is Ann Taylor but I got it for a great deal at Buffalo Exchange in Chicago. My faux wood grain heart ring I got from a vendor at the Macy's Festival in Cincinnati about two years ago.

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample, we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. Friday I spent some time with a friend Naima from high school who had just graduated from the school of Aveda. She came over and we played catch up while she did my nails and toes for me because they really needed some help. Thank god for her! Then I got dressed to go to dinner with my fella at Mary Kelly's in Dublin. We took these photos out front before we ate. I was not notified by my photographer aka the fella, that my bra strap was showing the entire time. =(
I wore a tie dye empire waist top by a brand called Casual Freedom that I got from TJ Maxx several years ago with a pair of target brand Mossimo, mid-rise, skinny, fit 4/curvy jeans. Find jeans @ http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=mossimo+jeans&category=0%7CAll%7Cmatchallpartial%7Call+categories
Click on the links below to view similar tops.

The large statement piece is a wicker body chain by Candice Cox in New York. The brand is called CanDid Art Accessories.  She has some crazy amazing pieces including this one @ http://www.candidartaccessories.com/
Here is a close up on the complete body jewelry piece. It is my new favorite accessory and I would buy one of almost everything she makes if I could. I get compliments on this every time I wear it. Love! Love! Love!

My sunglasses are gold and silver D&G aviators (6065). I got them last summer at Nordstrom. The earrings are wood earrings I found at an antique shop on the way to Sandusky, Ohio. Click on the links below to view similar sunglasses and earrings.

My turquoise and gold cuff and matching ring I got in Chicago at Mali. It is a store on Michigan Ave. You can find some of their pieces @ https://malijewelry.com/default.asp. My other bracelets in my "arm party" are copper cuffs I have picked up from thrift stores, vintage shops and the newest one with the turquoise at the base of my left wrist came from the Tecumseh gift shop. I gave some copper cuff suggestions in my closet blog from 7/8. You can find lots of copper cuffs @ http://www.overstock.com/ and http://www.etsy.com/
The clutch I got just shy of a month ago. It is a leather bag by Ann Taylor that I bought at Buffalo Exchange in Chicago. The original price was $138.00. I know this because the original tag was still attached. It looked new and unused. I paid $19.50 plus tax. Click on the links below to view similar clutches.

Theses are brown leather sandal booties by Levity from DSW. They are still available @ http://www.dsw.com/shoe/levity+echo+bootie?prodId=dsw12prod3820311&productRef=SEARCH
They are definitely a couple hour shoes. My feet hurt after two/three hours.

Thank you for stopping by my closet! Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!
