Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) May 4, 2013

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet.
I have not been doing many closet blogs...I've had a lot of missed opportunities, my goal this summer is to do more. Wish me luck!:)

This weekend was pretty slow for me. I had to work a few hours on Saturday afternoon, and I knew I was going to a birthday celebration later, so I wanted to be cute and comfortable, that way I wouldn't have to change after work! This is what I came up with.

When coming up with this outfit, I chose my accessories first. I knew I wanted to wear the beaded necklace and bracelets, that led me to the outfit choice. This was my first time wearing the necklace/earrings/matching bracelets. A friend from Ghana ordered these pieces from a woman in Ghana who makes jewelry by hand, I was really excited when he gave them to me, not only did I love the culture behind the jewelry, but also the craftsmanship. Kristin and I create handmade jewelry and I love supporting fellow artisans!

The cream lace top is from Forever 21, I love this top and probably wear it a little too much! It's so easy to pair with many different looks, this time I opted for the neon pink tank which is from Target. I couldn't find this same exact shirt, but here is a similar one. My jeans are Abercrombie & Fitch, of course I purchased them on sale, they were like 40% off, which is the only time I purchase jeans from abercrombie, I'm frugal, not paying full price!

My printed scarf is also from Forever 21, it was $8.00, I love this scarf because I also rock it as a stylish head wrap. Forever 21 has been having some really cute cheap scarves. I want more.

I did an "arm party" on both wrist, I figured it only made sense, since I was wearing ethnic jewelry. The orange and multi colored bracelets on my right arm are from Ghana, and the gold bangles with the colored beads are from the  World Market at Easton. On the left I have on gold Stella & Dot bangles, and the multi colored beaded bracelet I purchased from a vendor at The Ohio State Fair for $5.oo.

My pewter oxfords are from Shoetique in Columbus, Ohio. I love these shoes because they are so neutral I can wear them with anything, and they are comfy!

Please check out this link to the woman who made my jewelry: B.e.a.d's BEAD Accessories

What do you think of my look? Do you support your local artisans?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Kristin) March 10, 2013

Kris's Closet

Inspired by some great bloggers, my partner and I decided to start our own blog. In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Sunday was so nice out, Leo and I decided to go for a ride. We went to Circleville to pick up somethings for his workshop and I used the trip to thrift and vintage shop. I found some great items at the Goodwill. Then we went looking for a house on Main Street we visited once that occasionally has antique sales inside. The house was open and I left with a bag full of vintage costume jewelry. We finished our ride in Canal Winchester where we stopped to eat at Shades on the Canal. I took my photos across the street from the restaurant and at the the covered bridge in Canal Winchester. This is what I wore.
I kept it simple with my basic white button up and my favorite Paige Skyline Skinny jeans. The button up is a thrift store buy and the jeans are from Nordstrom. Find the jeans online at:
 http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/paige-skyline-12-skinny-stretch-jeans-twilight/3128824?origin=keywordsearch&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=0
The suede and knit cardi-jacket is from Rag-O-Rama in Clintonville. I have only worn it twice in a few years but I love it. The jacket is from the 70's and has southwestern influence. The label reads Styled by Max One.
I found the fedora hat in Lebanon at a vintage shop called Cabins to Castles last September. It is also vintage. Inside it reads Made in Switzerland for Lazarus Columbus. It was a Style Adventures find on September 15th and it was kind of tight fitting when I bought it. It was featured a second time in a Remedy This post when I stretched it on October 22. Find the Style Adventures post where I found it here: http://christinakristinco.blogspot.com/2012/09/style-adventures-vol-7-lebanon-pt-ii.html
I love layering jewelry and it's a big thing for necklaces and bracelets this spring & summer. These are some of my favorite necklaces to layer. These seed bead and gold rope necklaces are from Shoetique by way of India. They are adjustable which makes it easy to wear them at once. The peacock necklace peaking out of my collar is an old necklace from Forever 21.
This is my go to brown purse by Louis Vuitton (Papillon). It is a closet post regular. The ring I found at the Macy's Festival at a vendor's table. It is also a closet post vet.
These are my Chinese Laundry over-the-knee (South Bay) boots in color henna. I have worn them a few times on the closet posts. I bought them from Zappos where they are still available. Find them online at:

The last covered bridge in Franklin County Ohio.

This concludes another Kris's Closet. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Kristin) December 28, 2012

Kris's Closet

Inspired by some great bloggers, my partner and I decided to start our own blog. In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Friday I went for a ride with the fella. We drove to Dayton and walked around Oregon District. It is my favorite place in the city because it kind of reminds me of the Short North in Columbus. We went into shop after shop and bought each other belated Christmas presents. I got him a vintage CD he raved about and he bought me a new pair of earrings, like I need more earrings. I found a great vintage sweater at the Goodwill in Oregon District that the fella hates because it is the most colorful thing ever. Later we drove to Woodland Lights on Miamisburg Centerville Rd, a place that had a 1/2 mile wooded trail with beautiful holiday lights, horse carriage rides and fair type foods. We saw all there was to see, took a carriage ride then began our search to find dinner. We ended up at a place called Sweeney's Seafood Restaurant. We came back home to Columbus and had drinks at Marshall's then Brother's Drake Meadery. I took these photos in Oregon District and at Woodland Lights. This is what I wore.
This is one of my favorite looks this year and one of the cheapest. I love to mix patterns and textures. The stripe shirt I am wearing and the tweed blazer are both from the Ohio Thrift Store. I probably spent $4 on them together on a 50% off Wednesday this month. I bought them at the same time intending to wear them together. The shirt is New York & Co. and the jacket is Style & Co. The belt is also second hand but I am not sure where and when I got it. My jeans are Mossimo Skinny from Target.

I have talked about pattern mixing before, which is big for the season.
Here are a few tips if you want to try a similar look.

1. Stay in the same color family (Even though you are mixing patterns, pulling the same colors together
keeps the look clean and creates a since of harmony. You don't want to look like you got dressed in the dark.)

2. Play with texture ( It makes the pattern mixture more interesting if the textures are different)

3. Have fun! Mix florals with animal prints or stripes. ( It works, I wore this same jacket, and scarf with a leopard print dress)

The paisley scarf is from Shoetique. I have gotten some great scarves from there this year. They carry a nice selection starting at $5. Check them out if you are local at 3760 East Broad Street.
My earrings are from a vendor at a festival from a couple years ago. I can't recall which one.
My purse and ring are closet post regulars. The Louis Vuitton is the first bag I bought myself ten years ago.
The ring is from a vendor at the Macy's Festival three years ago.
These were my early Christmas present to myself. They are my favorite brand when it comes to flat leather boots, Chinese Laundry. They are good quality, leather and reasonably priced. Find these boots online at:

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Kristin) "Christmas" December 25, 2012

Kris's Closet

Inspired by some great bloggers, my partner and I decided to start our own blog. In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Christmas day I went to my fella's sister's house where his very large family met to celebrate the holiday. We stayed for about an hour then went to my sister's where my cute little family celebrated. I was so excited to give my mom and sister the jewelry I made them and my nephew his game. I also made some killer pasta salad with all our favorite things in it. Later my fella and I went on a hunt for Christmas lights. We found two over the top houses and also stopped to look at lights at the parks downtown. I took my closet photos at Bicentennial Park. This was my Christmas look.
I kept my outfit simple and played with accessories to make my look festive. My grey sweater dress is from the Ohio Thrift Store. I bought it a couple weeks ago on a 50% of day. I don't think I paid more than $3.00 for it. It is very warm but also itchy. The jacket I have worn on closet posts a few times now since the beginning of December. Here is a grey sweater dress I found online on sale and my original jacket from Nordstrom following: http://www.victoriassecret.com/clothing/clear-ance/cable-sleeve-turtleneck-sweaterdress?ProductID=65055&CatalogueType=OLS&search=true

My red sequin beret hat is from Forever 21 a couple holiday seasons ago. Here is one I found online on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/83504294/custom-couture-red-sequin-toddler-adult?ref=sr_gallery_3&sref=sr_e532c2ba8716dcc4cf2a205269404b799005778d891ac3e7fdc37b851ee668bf_1356898153_14098973_red&ga_search_query=red+sequin+hat&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all The red tear drop earrings were handmade by a man in Cincinnati. I bought them many years ago. The top silver part of the earrings are watch links. Here is a similar pair from etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/21078059/jewel-two-earring-drop-pairs-in-ruby-red?ref=sr_gallery_37&ga_search_query=red+tear+drop+earrings&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=6&ga_search_type=all The scarf is from Shoetique. It is a tie-dye red, white and green satin scarf. Check them out if you are in Columbus for your shoe and accessory needs at 3760 E Broad St. My bracelets are a mix of bought and handmade. I bought some last year when I was in Pittsburgh for New Years and the rest are part of my Vegas Collection.
I love ladybugs so I have a couple ladybug cocktail rings. The one I am wearing is by Noir. It is a designer costume jewelry brand. I apologize that there aren't any clear pictures of my ring but here is where you can get one http://www.noirjewelry.com/Rings/LadytheLadybug/515#.UOCia-RZWSo My handbag was my Christmas present from my mom. I got it before Christmas from zappos.com. It is a Michael Kors Hamilton East/West Satchel. There aren't anymore on zappos in this size but you can find it here: http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=586665002&tid=plpl000000&kwid=1&ap=7&mkwid=U4j00a&adid=Cebqhpg+Nqf
My boots are Chinese Laundry flat over-the-knee and made of leather. They are soooo comfortable. Here are some similar ones on sale online: http://www.chineselaundry.com/chineselaundry/boots/tremendous-leathe?color=cognac I love over-the-knee socks with my boots. These socks were 1.99 from Shoppers World on the west side of Columbus.

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristinwelcome to my closet!

Friday night, I hung with some girlfriends for a friends birthday. We went to a late dinner at M at Miranova, and then to a couple of clubs. This is what I wore.

I wanted to be casual but stylish so I opted for this striped black and white blazer and skinny jeans. I had been stalking a similar blazer that was available at Target, but I ended up purchasing this one from Burlington Coat Factory for $14.99. I love this blazer because it is actually t-shirt material, so very casual. I found a similar blazer here http://www.moddeals.com/ for $14.80.

My jeans are from Wet Seal, I bought these a couple years ago on the $10 rack. I was not able to find these exact jeans, but there was a pretty good selection at the website.

I opted for my pop color to be neon pink, which I have a lot of. So I paired the blazer with a neon pink tank top that I bought over the summer.

My neon yellow skinny belt is from my favorite place Target, I think I should be a promotional model for Target, because I keep plugging them. LOL I found the same belt for $12.99 http://www.target.com.

This clutch was a birthday gift from Kristin, my first time carrying it. I can only fit like 5 items in here so I had to choose wisely. She purchased it at Shoetique located at 3760 East Broad Street Columbus, OH 43213.

My jewelry is Stella & Dot, I absolutely love this statement necklace, and I get SO many compliments when I wear it. It is the Lillith Fringe necklace, find out how you can get this necklace for free by checking out my site www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn

My shoes are Jessica Simpson, they are super old, I bought them at least 5 years ago. They are the most comfortable heels I own. I couldn't find these shoes or anything similar.

The pink fish net thigh highs are from Hot Topic, they always have fun accessories. I found them on sale for $5.48 http://www.hottopic.com.

Until next time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Kristin) October 13, 2012

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample, we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. My style is usually wild, bold, adventurous and colorful. I would use the same words to describe my personality and life. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Saturday I rode to Lebanon with my fella to take care of some business. After the work was done, we headed over to Caesar Creek Flea Market. I bought my first pair of cowboy boots and some earrings. We headed back to Columbus where I spent the evening with my dad and my guy eating home made pizza and watching the Ohio State & Indiana game. Go Bucks! I took these pictures in front of my fella's place. I love his door! He made the door himself. This is what I wore.
My shirt is a wrinkle free yellow button-up dress shirt that use to belong to my grandma. I love these because they don't need and iron. I hate to iron! The shirt is Style & Co. originally from Macy's.
This denim, collarless jacket is now a closet blog regular. It is a thrift store buy originally from the Gap. I bought it a month ago when the weather started changing.
My tribal print mini skirt was a gift from my friend Deepika a couple months ago. She brought it back for me from New York. I found this same skirt on sale online @ http://www.karmaloop.com/product/The-Tribal-Skirt-in-Purple/254453
My necklaces are all from Shoetique, located in Town & Country at 3760 East Broad Street  Columbus, OH 43213.There was only one of the middle one but the other two are available. I own three of the beaded ones because they look great worn together. The style can be worn as a choker or long necklace. You can adjust it to many different lengths as shown.

The bracelets are from a vendor at the Pickerington Violet Festival this past summer. Two of them tie on wood beaded bracelets and the middle one with the real scorpion has pull strings. I found a scorpion bracelet on etsy at http://www.etsy.com/listing/91526865/black-scorpion-sitting-on-natural?ref=sr_gallery_1&ga_search_query=real+scorpion&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_ref=auto1&ga_search_type=handmade
The handbag is a closet blog regular, It is Louis Vuitton, the first bag I bought myself ten years ago. The cognac leather boots are Chinese Laundry from Nordstrom. They are two years old and getting really oily and worn but I love them. They have had a new version of these every year. You can find this years version @
The glasses are closet blog regulars. They are D& G aviators.

This concludes another Kris's Closet. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample, two months ago we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. My style is usually wild, bold, adventurous and colorful. I would use the same words to describe my personality and life. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Sunday the fella and I kept it simple. We had a cheap date at O'Charley's. It's like one of the only chain restaurants I will dine at. I was sitting around doing work at home before that. We both didn't feel like cooking so I threw on clothes to get something good but cheap. And cheap it was! We ended up only paying for my meal because they ran out of what my guy originally ordered and the server didn't relay that to us because he didn't know. Well the mistake was corrected. I love great customer service. That's how you get people to return. I took these pictures in front of the restaurant. This is what I wore.
I also kept it simple with my outfit. I wore a sheerish neon yellow/green tee shirt from Target over my neon, black and white floral printed Victoria Secret bra, skinny jeans, a polyester shawl like jacket and a neon orange scarf. The bra matching was not on purpose. My jacket is something I found at the Ohio Thrift Store. The orange scarf I got from Shoetique in Town & Country of Columbus, Ohio. They have great scarves for just $5. My leather and metal necklace I picked up from Funky & Functional in the Short North, Columbus. The sunglasses are Michael Kors cat-eyes. I have worn them a few times in closet blogs. My earrings are a pair I got from the Chesterville Flea Market last month. Find a similar neon tee at http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=4016&pid=317779002.
My black and silver sequin clutch is  Limited brand from the MJR warehouse in Plain City, Ohio. Here is a sequin clutch I found on etsy at http://www.etsy.com/listing/108609121/roma-clutch-silver-sequins-over-black?ref=sr_gallery_39&ga_search_query=black+and+silver+sequin+purse&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_search_type=all
The bracelet I got from a fashion swap with my friends. Here is a very cute multi-strand bracelet at http://www.fantasyjewelrybox.com/Product/Details/23117?urlDisplayName=dreas-silver-mesh-chain-multi-strand-bracelet&source=pjn&subid=8832 The mustache ring I bought last month at Cedar Point. You can find tons of mustache rings at http://www.etsy.com
My leather booties are from  MJR warehouse. They are by Colin Stuart. I love the big floppy bows on the back. I am sorry, I did not find anything close to these to suggest.

This concludes another Kris's Closet. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!
Kris,
