Kris's Closet

In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Saturday I spent some time with my mom then went to a wedding with Leo. We hung out at the reception a while then headed to the Short North for Galley Hop. I took these photos in front of the house in between the reception and the Short North. I changed into more comfortable flat silver shoes immediately after this but this is what I wore.
I got so many compliments on this dress. My friend Deepika bought if for me for helping her with a job. We got it at Marshalls for $24. The brand is Pinky. I believe it's a junior brand. I loved the dress at first site because it had a vintage look about it. Find similar dresses here and here.
I loved the delicate lace collar and the peach color is something I didn't really have in my wardrobe. Thank you Dee!
The jacket is a collarless Gap jacket from the thrift store. I paid $10 for it some time ago. Find a similar jacket here.
The leopard cow hide clutch is Ann Taylor. I got it for $19.50 at Buffalo Exchange in Chicago with the original tag still on it last July. It was originally $138. Gotta love that! The bracelet to your left is new. My sister just brought it back from her trip to Chicago Memorial Day weekend. It is called an Indian Mask. The wrist to your right 'arm party' from top to bottom is made up of the alligator 'creature cuff' by Tasha from Nordstrom, the Artemis cuff & Kalahari bangle by Stella & Dot, snake wrap bracelet from etsy and another new guy, the Cara Cross Knuckle Ring from Nordstrom. This ring is more like a hand bracelet because it actually sits around the palm of my hand.
The shoes are Steven by Steve Madden silver distressed leather peep toes. They are a quite a few years old. Find a similar pair of shoes here.

This concludes another Kris's Closet. What do you think about my look?
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Kris's Closet

Inspired by some great bloggers, my partner and I decided to start our own blog. In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Sunday I attended the wedding of my fella's niece. It was a beautiful outside wedding at a park facility. The weather was beautiful and I was happy to be there. I love weddings especially when I am not in them. I took these photos at the wedding during the reception. This is what I wore.

I am very proud of this look because it is a very inexpensive outfit. The jacket and skirt are thrift store purchases. The colorful paisley jacket is surprisingly by Coldwater Creek. I am not a fan of this brand but I have learned that even the most conservative of brands can surprise you. I paid $6.99 for this jacket at the Valley Thrift Store in Dayton. Find similar jackets here at option 1 and option 2.  The tie-dye look stripe pleated skirt is also from that same thrift store. The brand is Elle and I paid $4.99 for it. I could not find anything similar that wasn't under $200 to post. The top under my jacket is just a black beater. I bought it in a pack of three from Bed Bath & Beyond. I'd say one beater is $3.33 out of a $10 pack. This look before my accessories was about $15.31.

Now my accessories are another story. My glasses are Fendi. They were my gramsey Nolan's, so I did not buy them but the lenses have been replaced. They had her bifocal prescription in them and I had them replaced with my own prescription. I swear by See Eyewear for those who are searching for quality frames and lenses at a good price. The necklace is the Lillith Fringe Necklace by Stella & Dot.
I am excited about my Urban Safari 'arm party'. My bracelets are from several places. The snake in the front is from a seller on etsy ( here is the same snake bracelet in gold), the second and fourth bracelets are from Stella & Dot. They are the 'Kalahari Bangle' and the 'Artemis Cuff'. The third gold and pearl bracelet  is a stretch bracelet that I found at the Valley Thrift Store, again Dayton. The last bracelet is the Alligator 'Creature Cuff' by Tasha from Nordstrom. The pearl vintage ring is a purchase from a vintage shop in Attica, Ohio. My straw clutch is from the Buffalo Exchange in Chicago.Online I found a similar clutch.
I love these shoes. They are some of my favorite shoes but I don't get to wear them often enough. They are blue suede with gold and beige leather trim and wicker heels. The brand is Costume National, an Italian couture brand shoe that I found in New York at Century 21.

This concludes another Kris's Closet. What do you think about this look?
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) May 4, 2013

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet.
I have not been doing many closet blogs...I've had a lot of missed opportunities, my goal this summer is to do more. Wish me luck!:)

This weekend was pretty slow for me. I had to work a few hours on Saturday afternoon, and I knew I was going to a birthday celebration later, so I wanted to be cute and comfortable, that way I wouldn't have to change after work! This is what I came up with.

When coming up with this outfit, I chose my accessories first. I knew I wanted to wear the beaded necklace and bracelets, that led me to the outfit choice. This was my first time wearing the necklace/earrings/matching bracelets. A friend from Ghana ordered these pieces from a woman in Ghana who makes jewelry by hand, I was really excited when he gave them to me, not only did I love the culture behind the jewelry, but also the craftsmanship. Kristin and I create handmade jewelry and I love supporting fellow artisans!

The cream lace top is from Forever 21, I love this top and probably wear it a little too much! It's so easy to pair with many different looks, this time I opted for the neon pink tank which is from Target. I couldn't find this same exact shirt, but here is a similar one. My jeans are Abercrombie & Fitch, of course I purchased them on sale, they were like 40% off, which is the only time I purchase jeans from abercrombie, I'm frugal, not paying full price!

My printed scarf is also from Forever 21, it was $8.00, I love this scarf because I also rock it as a stylish head wrap. Forever 21 has been having some really cute cheap scarves. I want more.

I did an "arm party" on both wrist, I figured it only made sense, since I was wearing ethnic jewelry. The orange and multi colored bracelets on my right arm are from Ghana, and the gold bangles with the colored beads are from the  World Market at Easton. On the left I have on gold Stella & Dot bangles, and the multi colored beaded bracelet I purchased from a vendor at The Ohio State Fair for $5.oo.

My pewter oxfords are from Shoetique in Columbus, Ohio. I love these shoes because they are so neutral I can wear them with anything, and they are comfy!

Please check out this link to the woman who made my jewelry: B.e.a.d's BEAD Accessories

What do you think of my look? Do you support your local artisans?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Thursday's Inspiration

Twice a week Kristin and I both create collections on a site called etsy. On etsy these collections are called treasuries. The reason why I enjoy doing them so much is because I feel like a fashion editor creating a cohesive display of items for a magazine. I am usually inspired by the collections I create either in my own personal life, or through my designs. So I decided, why not blog a little more in depth about the inspiration behind the treasuries I create.

My goal is to not only inspire you the reader, but also take my inspiration to the next level. I hope you enjoy this series as I much as I enjoy creating it!

*Chris*

This week I am inspired by lace. When I think of lace, I seem to always think bridal, or romantic. Well this spring season, designers have put a twist on lace, showing this sheer fabric in bright, bold colors, peek-a-boo sexy accents, and even in jewelry pieces.

Pictures taken from ww.elle.com L-R: Temperely London,J.Mendel,Dolce and Gabanna

All pictures taken from www.elle.com L-R: Oscar de la Renta, Tadashi Shoji,Roberto Cavalli

Not really into wearing a lot of lace. Try wearing it in accent pieces with jewelry. Stella & Dot has a awesome line inspired by lace.Check out the full lace inspired collection here www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn

View the etsy treasury, in it you will see everything lace, from head pieces to cell phone covers.

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) December 13, 2012

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristinwelcome to my closet!

About 2 weeks ago Kristin and I planned to attend Cocktails at the Conservatory at Franklin Park located in Columbus, Ohio, http://www.fpconservatory.org/. So on Thursday we met up, and this is what I wore.

It wasn't too cold last Thursday, so I opted to wear a sweater with a faux fur vest, and a warm scarf, plus at this point I still hadn't purchased a winter coat, so I improvised!

During the winter season, I generally wear a lot of layers. Although I am a fashionista, I rarely shop for the cold season, honestly, shopping doesn't always fit into my budget. I take my spring/summer wardrobe and winterize it, as I did with this outfit

I am wearing a grey baby doll dress that I purchased from Target about 3 years ago, layered over top is a rose colored sweater that I bought at H & M last year. I was unable to find a similar dress, but I did find a similar sweater here: http://www.hm.com/us/product/06372?article=06372-A

Over top of the sweater I am wearing a faux fur vest that I purchased from American Eagle probably about 4 years ago. I do not shop at American Eagle, but one Christmas I received a gift card to the store and I was determined to use it. I found this vest and a pair of pearl earrings. American Eagle does not sell this vest anymore, but I found a cute animal print vest at http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?Br=F21&Category=Outerwear&ProductID=2030325728&VariantID= for only $22.96 on sale.

My nude lace tights are from Target, they have an awesome selection of legwear.

My multi-colored scarf is from Target, as you can see I am an avid Target shopper. I purchased this scarf a few years ago, but there are some other really cute ones available.

All of jewelry is from Stella & Dot, as I stated before I am an independent stylist for Stella & Dot which is why I am always rocking fabulous jewelry, these are my display samples. Check out my site for more info. My brown clutch is from Ohio Thrift, it was only $1.00 during the half off sale.

These super comfortable wedges are from Bakers, I bought them over the summer. I found a similar pair here: http://www.bakersshoes.com/p-236771-SPENCER-WEDGE.aspx on sale for $49.99.

My tips for winterizing your Spring/Summer wardrobe:

1. Layer with tank tops, sweaters and scarves.
2. Add tights to summer dresses.
3. DO invest in a great pair of boots.
4. Accessorize with belts, purses, hats, shoes, and jewelry. Accessories alone can make your outfit look like 100 bucks!

I hope you enjoyed my closet blog!

Until next time,Ciao!

Chris' Top 3 Holiday Gift Ideas

With only 3 weeks left until Christmas, the pressure is on to find the perfect gifts for family and friends.  I work in a retail store that sells great gift items during the holiday season, so I thought I'd share my ideas, 3 great gifts for anyone young, old, male or female. Hope this helps with your shopping.

1.Personalized Items

Personalized gifts are great stocking stuffers. Who doesn't want something that is personal to them whether it's an initial charm, a nameplate necklace, zodiac sign, or even a monogrammed pillow. This gift will make anyone feel special, simple, but thoughtful.

Stella & Dot have very adult looking charm necklaces. You choose the base necklace that you want, and then add the charms of your choice. They are very chic. You can find them at www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn. Order by December 17 11am to receive by Christmas.

I like to think of myself as a wine connoisseur, and I would love a personalized hand painted wine glass. At only $16.49, these are a great deal. Or you can take the DIY route and paint a wine glass yourself, but these are so perfect, I would just buy it. Find them at www.sweetthoughtsboutique.com. Order by December 14 to receive by Christmas.

2. ipod/ipad cases

Who doesn't have an ipod or ipad these days?, besides me! There are so many fun cases that you can get for the techie in your life. This is a great functional gift that would definitely come in handy.

www.westelm.com

These felt cases are simple, but not boring. At only $12.99, you can get this for a company gift exchange. Find them at www.westelm.com or if you are in Columbus, visit the west elm store at Easton Town Center.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/94953890/ipad-sleeve-ipad-case-for-ipad2-new-ipad?ref=sr_gallery_18&ga_search_query=ipad&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=all

I like the creativity of this case, and you could definitely purchase this for your mom or dad. This case is a little more expensive than the one above, priced at $23.99, but worth it to have a customized item, and you're supporting a small business. Find this one at: www.etsy.com/shop/jiujiu.

3. Magazine subscription

This is a fun gift, because it's not just a one time thing. Every month you will be thought of when that special person opens their mailbox to see their favorite magazine. From Vogue to Forbes magazine, you can find something for all interests.

The fashionista in your life would love a subscription to Vogue or any other fashion magazine. For $19.99, you receive 12 monthly issues via print and tablet, not bad.

Keep your beau in style with a year long subscription to GQ, he will thank you for the sneak peeks of all the sexy models inside!

Hope this fun list helps with your holiday shopping. Happy Holidays!!!

Ciao,Chris!

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristinwelcome to my closet!

Saturday was kind of a long day for me, I worked a mid afternoon shift, went home quickly to take a nap, and then woke up to get ready for a good friend's birthday celebration at Lounge 62 (Columbus, Ohio)!

As I was falling asleep, I was trying to visualize my closet to think of something to wear, unfortunately I fell asleep before my mind pictured anything. I knew I wanted to be simple, but cute, and I thought of this black/white/grey sketch pattern dress. This dress has become a favorite of mine. My girlfriends and I do a fashion swap usually seasonally. A fashion swap is where a group of girlfriends get together and bring unwanted clothing items, and swap them for something else.(We will facilitate a fashion swap for you and your girlfriends at a location of your choice, feel free to contact us!)  This event saves me from having to shop, and I get items that I wouldn't otherwise purchase. Although I love this dress, if I saw it in a store I would not buy it, I'm not sure why, I just know I wouldn't. The dress is from The Gap, not sure of the price and when it was purchased. I should have taken my jacket off because the neckline is asymmetrical, super cute.

I found another dress at http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=82417&vid=1&pid=914028002. This dress is similar it is printed and the silhouette is close to my dress in the picture.

The belt is a golden yellow faux camel hair belt from Target. This was my first time wearing it, I bought it about 2 months ago, but didn't have anything to wear it with. I contemplated returning the belt, but I hung on to it, I'm glad I did. Pairing this bright belt with the dreary ensemble brought some life to my whole outfit. I accentuated it by adding gold jewelry. This belt is online at http://www.target.com/p/merona-hair-on-belt-yellow/-/A-14140674#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=yellow%20belt.

If you read my bio you should know that I love tights, and I buy all kinds. I think I got these fishnet tights from Target, they have a GREAT selection of legwear. I was drawn to these because they are not your ordinary fishnet tights.

My not so simple black pumps are Steve Madden, I purchased these shoes literally years ago from Macy's or Nordstrom, I can't remember which one. I love these shoes because they will jazz up any outfit. These shoes are not really similar, but would look super cute with tights and a dress: http://www.bakersshoes.com/p-258593-KALEY-PLATFORM-PUMP.aspx

My necklace, bracelets and ring are all Stella & Dot. You can find them at www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn. This black leather clutch is from a thrift store, I cannot recall which one, I am sure that is was somewhere around $1.99.

These button earrings were a birthday gift from Kristin, they were shown in a previous post. She bought them in Lebanon at Miller's Antique Market, and they came with a necklace. I have so much black & gold jewelry so I can wear them with almost anything. They are black enamel with gold trim and a gold flower motif in the center.

Refer back to this post for more info on these button earrings http://christinakristinco.blogspot.com/2012/08/style-adventures-vol-6-lebanon-ohio.html.

Until next time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) August 30, 2012 Birthday Edition!

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristinwelcome to my closet!

This past week I had a birthday, I will not disclose my age! My friends and I had a blast, we had cocktails at Franklin Park Conservatory, light food and more drinks at a friend's house, then we went to shake a tail feather at a local nightclub. I had the most challenging time finding an outfit for this day, I knew that I didn't want to spend too much. I literally found this outfit, about 3 hours before the festivities began.

I finally had a chance to shop at Madewell, as you may know I have been stalking this store. The nude pink crochet top was $29.99, a steal, I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. I found a similar top at http://www.etsy.com/listing/104355650/.

Of course I had to layer the tank, so I opted to go with a monochromatic look. Up under the crochet tank I wore a scoop tank dress that I purchased at Nordstrom in the bp section.  I love this dress because you can do so much with it. The store had a variety of colors, and I will be going back for more. The dress was only $24...not bad.  You can find this same dress at http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bp-double-scoop-tank-dress-juniors/3303118?origin=category&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Grey-+Truffle&resultback=560.

All of my jewelry is Stella & Dot. This statement piece is the Sierra Necklace, one of my favorites. You can find it at http://shop.stelladot.com/style/b2c_en_us/n272g.html

My arm candy and cocktail ring are Stella & Dot as well. Find them at www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn. This super cute clutch is from the thrift store, I cannot remember which one at this time, I believe it was only $1.99. There are plenty to choose from on etsy, but this one in particular is pretty cute, find it at http://www.etsy.com/listing/84274184.

My sparkly shoes were a cross between gold and champagne colors. They are Steve Madden and I paid $59.95, plus a $5 discount for my birthday!:) I bought them at DSW.
Find them here: http://www.dsw.com/shoe/sm+women%27s+gaylee+glitter+pump?prodId=dsw12prod3830076&productRef=SEARCH

Franklin Park Conservatory is a very pretty place, we got carried away with taking pictures! I absolutely loved my birthday outfit. I have already worn the scoop tank dress with something else, these are going to become staples in my wardrobe, I can tell.

    Until Next Time, Ciao!

Chris's/Kris's Closet (Christina) August 11, 2012

Chris's Closet

I am Christina, the hot pink of ChristinaKristin, welcome to my closet!

Saturday was a very busy day for me, even after having a late Friday night. After staying at a friend's Friday night, I rushed home Saturday morning to get ready for work. I knew I was going out later, and I wanted to put on something that would go from day to night, and still look stylish and cute. So this is what I chose. Although I didn't wear the wedges to work, I opted for some metallic silver oxfords, those were more comfortable seeing that I was on my feet for 6 hours.

After work a close friend (and little sister of Kristin) had a birthday celebration at www.sciotodowns.com. Scioto Downs is a racetrack with a newly opened casino in Columbus, Ohio. Although, my friends and I were a tad bit overdressed we a had a blast watching the harness races and gambling on the slot machines. Several things I am wearing are repeats and are included in my July 8th post. That would be the neon pink tank top, the belt, and the blue wedges.

The powder blue t-shirt I am wearing is from Target, it's a really comfortable tee, and I can dress it up or be more casual. It was only $8.00 find a similar one here http://www.target.com/p/merona-womens-ultimate-v-neck-tee-assorted-colors/-/A-13921999#?lnk=sc_qi_detailbutton. My white cardigan wrap which I love, is from some super cheap store, I think www.rainbowshops.com. This store is hit or miss, when I stop in there on a whim, I can usually find something to dress up. I purchased this inside the store, their website really doesn't do the store any justice, there is a lot more product in the store. If you have one near you, check it out. I paid no more than $10.00 for this, I found a similar one at: http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspxBr=F21&Category=sweater&ProductID=2025100535&VariantID=

So of course my jewelry brought this whole outfit together, without it I would have looked very plain. All of my jewelry is from Stella & Dot. As I have stated before I am a Stella & Dot stylist, and you can check out these pieces at my site. The necklace I am wearing is the Lillith Fringe neckalce, this necklace is a statement piece, but it's not too much drama, just enough. Find it at www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn

My bracelets are S&D as well, I am wearing the sparkly bardot spiral bangle, the chimera bangle, the vintage twist bracelet, and the serpent bangle (listed in this order from closest to the hand back)  My ring is the starstruck ring.

My stud earrings are the soiree studs in gold.
These are all available at www.stelladot.com/christinajovonn

Can you tell I love these jeans?, they are very worn...lol! But they are Abercrombie super skinny jeans. I am in love with their jeans, I am very petite and these jeans fit my body perfectly.
I need to go buy more. I bought them on sale of course, they are on sale right now for $39, find them here http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10901&storeId=10051&langId=-1&categoryId=50453&parentCategoryId=50453&topCategoryId=12203&productId=982827

Until next time, Ciao!
