I am excited that it is finally looking like spring! Road trips are being planned and the spring clothes are coming out. I am definitely in a better mood. This past weekend I kicked off my travel season. My beau and I took my sister to Amish Country on Saturday. It was her first time in the area. We spent the day shopping for meat, cheese and wine. We had lunch at Berlin Farmstead and browsed the shops in the area. I took these photos at the restaurant and at a furniture shop on the way home. This is what I wore.

Style Adventures Vol.16 (Berlin, Ohio Part II)

Saturday I spent the day in Amish Country driving to my favorite places from city to city. Since my guy and I took my sister on her first trip that way, I got to go in a lot more stores than I would normally. In Berlin we ran into this store called Moxie. It was a breath of fresh air in Amish Country where wood furniture, quilts and burlap rule. This store stood out with clothing, accessories and home furnishings that you could find at a trendy boutique in a big city. We had to make our way inside.

The first thing that I saw were these dandelion eyelet oxfords. They were bright, fun and looked like basket weave. Believe me, if they came in my size, they would be in my possession right now. Darn, my size five feet!

I continued my stroll toward the shoe wall even though I knew they didn't carry my size. They had quite a bit of  ethnic/funky styles. It didn't hurt to look. Well, maybe a little.

My favorite pair on the wall were a pair of colorful chunky heeled slide-ons. We all know I love color.

Then we came a cross the Bargain Vault. In a little room there were many items 20% off the already marked down prices. I looked through the dresses, purses, sunglasses and jackets but did not find anything that I could not live without.

As always my favorite part of the store was the accessory section. My sister and I tried on sunglasses and searched through many pairs of earrings, stands covered in necklaces and trays of rings. I fell in love with several pairs of wood earrings by Green Tree Jewelry. The best part is they were made in the USA. I also bought a pair of jeweled earrings for my friend's birthday.

I took home three pairs of earrings. A pair is missing from the photo because they are part of a friend's birthday gift. My two pair totaled $20 plus tax

Style Adventures Vol. 10 (Berlin, Ohio)

Saturday I spent the day in Amish Country with my guy. We went from city to city eating and shopping for Amish foods.  Afterward we shopped the local vintage and specialty shops. I had no intentions of doing a Style Adventures post but then I came across Queen Anne's Lace. I was originally attracted to the beautiful historic exterior. Then I went inside and was equally intrigued. It is the kind of store that triggered my own desires of owning my own specialty store. It is a place that inspires one to be creative. I thought about all the interior decorating projects I have yet to start and I drooled over accessories I had to convince myself I didn't need.

The store specializes in Victorian Lace. You will also find jewelry, fascinators and Steampunk hats, body products and home furnishings.  There are two floors of merchandise including a baby room full of fun baby items and a room with sale items that included some holiday decor. My favorite floor was the first floor. I found myself browsing the same areas, jewelry and accessories.

With watches being a big accessory item for spring, I found myself staring at a watch display full of sparkly pieces. I had to remind myself that I don't wear watches.

One of my favorite sections of the store was a dress covered in cameo brooches. I have loved cameo pieces since I was a child discovering fashion and the history of it. 

I fell in love with this cameo statement necklace with matching earrings. 

I was inspired by these pieces that brought recycled buttons and jewelry together to create images of floral designs and beautiful vintage dresses. This is green art at it's best.

My favorite room was the hat room. I spent much of my time in the room trying on Steampunk hats and imagining how I would incorporate them into my daily wardrobe. Though I do not participate in the Steampunk culture, anyone who knows me knows I love a funky hat.

The majority of the hats in the store are made by Elsie Massey. I found myself attracted to them all. Her pieces included materials like feathers, lace, fake birds and clock pieces like escape wheels.

My favorite was this top hat covered in lace, feathers and clock pieces.

After making my rounds I made my final selection. I decided on an embellished knit turban headband.

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample,two months ago we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. My style is usually wild, bold, adventurous and colorful. Saturday I spent the day in Amish Country. The fella and I drove down to get supplies for his business. When the business was done, we browsed a few Amish fabric and furniture stores, bought lots of cheese at Guggisberg and walked across the street to Chalet in the Valley to have a late lunch. I took my first two pictures in the fabric store parking lot. I am obsessed with horse and buggys. The rest of the pictures were taken at Guggisberg, the cheese store. This is what I wore.

I wore a beige cotton dress by Apostrophe. It is so comfortable. I originally bought it from a thrift store in Illinois to turn into a high-low dress but I never got around to it.

My 80's belt I bought at a thrift store a while ago. I am no longer sure which one. I love belts and the 80's produced some of the best ones. You can find great belts of all decades in thrift an vintage stores. My straw envelop clutch is a closet blog regular. I got it in Chicago at Buffalo Exchange. You can find great straw clutches on http://www.etsy.com/ as well. My copper cuff arm party comes from a mixture of places. The bottom one with the turquoise is the newest one. It's from the gift shop at Tecumseh. The third one is a penny cuff made with pennies from a time when pennies were made completely of copper. That bracelet I bought from a jewelry vendor at the Ohio State Fair. It is new to the closet blog.
