Thursday's Inspiration

Parisian Dreams

As a little girl growing up in Ohio, there were 2 places I always wanted to go, New York City and Paris. I've always adored the big city, I love the people, the things to do, the hustle and bustle, the diversity, and yes the use of public transportation.  I've had the opportunity to visit NYC many, many times, but I have yet to visit Paris. My dream to visit Paris has always been far-fetched, it was one of those things that I never really thought could happen. Now that I am older and wiser, life's experiences and people have shown me that I can do anything I want, no limits.

In Yesterday's "Style Crush" I featured a stylist/event planner by the name of Lerkia Lee. I talked about how I was inspired by the way she lived her life to the fullest. She recently took a trip to Paris, I lived vicariously through her trip by stalking her fb updates about the city. Whenever I see women who look like me doing things that I want to do, or pursuing their dreams, it makes me more optimistic about my own personal dreams.

So one day, I will be in Paris, until then I will continue dreaming about it, and work on getting my passport!

If you are dreaming of visiting the City of Lights get more inspiration from my etsy treasury "Dreams of Paris".

What city/country have you always wanted to visit?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Thursday's Inspiration

For those of you who don't know me, I am a school teacher, who has the summers off. It sounds great, but usually every summer I am working like crazy, and don't have a lot of time for my passion, which is my business (ChristinaKristin).  Well, at the beginning of the year I did a 30 day fast and I had some very specific things that I wanted to focus on, those things being increased faith, guidance, and a vision. Needless, to say I prayed about  really focusing on my business and not working a 9-5, and that's what I am doing, with no hesitation or fear. Stepping out on a leap of faith, and I feel confident that things will be ok.

That leads me to today's inspiration! Yesterday it was so nice and sunny out that I decided to walk along Scioto Mile (in Columbus, Ohio), and watch the water, I enjoy the swinging benches. I sat there for about an hour with no cell phone, just paper and pencil. I created a list of experiences I wanted to have over the summer. At the top of my list was to go to the beach. There is something soothing about the heat, sand and the sound of the ocean.

I'm really into vision boards and wanted to put my thoughts into pictures. I found some great pictures that showed exactly what I want to experience this summer.

What are you hoping to experience this summer?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Thursday's Inspiration

Turquoise & Fuschia

Recently I noticed that I wear these two colors together a lot, turquoise and fuschia. I never realized that pairing these two colors together is actually quite popular, especially for weddings.  Because both of these colors are so bold, I generally wear them in color blocks and not necessarily in pattern.

These are just some items that inspired me as I perused the net. Last spring, our "Cotton Candy" collection featured turquoise and fuschia knit pieces. And one of my favorite Stella & Dot pieces that I own, has these two popular colors as well.

Check out my etsy treasury for more inspiration!

Do you have signature colors that you wear?

Until Next Time, Ciao!

Thursday's Inspiration

This week's inspiration came from our "Heavy Metal" Collection that we launched yesterday. I just wanted to dig even deeper into the spring trends, and to give you more inspiration on how these industrial pieces can be incorporated into your spring wardrobe. Kristin did a "Heavy Metal" inspired treasury on Tuesday, so if you missed it please check it out, it's awesome. Also, if you have not had a chance to see the collection please check out our etsy shop. We would love your feedback and thoughts about this collection. Leave us a comment and tell us what you think!

This spring/summer you will see a lot of studs, chains and mixed metals. I found these pieces on elle.com, and felt inspired by them. They're a combination of rocker and glam. I'm in love with wearing mixed metals because now I don't have to decide if I want to wear silver or gold, I can just mix the two.

Ear cuffs have that industrial feel, they are a big trend this season. Check out the "Fringe Ear Cuff" in our shop. Also, I've been seeing fringe in clothing, shoes, and even accessories. Many of our items in the "Heavy Metal" collection have fringed chains. Check out the the "Jack Fringe" earrings as well as the "Hit the Lights" Necklace.

Thursday's Inspiration

Twice a week Kristin and I both create collections on a site called etsy. On etsy these collections are called treasuries. The reason why I enjoy doing them so much is because I feel like a fashion editor creating a cohesive display of items for a magazine. I am usually inspired by the collections I create either in my own personal life, or through my designs. So I decided, why not blog a little more in depth about the inspiration behind the treasuries I create.

My goal is to not only inspire you the reader, but also take my inspiration to the next level. I hope you enjoy this series as I much as I enjoy creating it!

This week I am inspired by one of my top 5 spring trends that I posted last week. Pastels are on trend this season, it excites me because I love these pale colors something about them screams femininity, soft, and dreamy.  You can incorporate pastel colors into your spring look in many ways, through make up, nail polish, hair color, or even in clothing choices.

I've also fallen in love with pink lipstick, both pastel pink and bright Barbie doll pink, lately that's all I have been wearing. Now this is coming from a girl who would once only wear neutral lipgloss, or just plain ol' chapstick, I've evolved....Kristin has encouraged me to step out of my box and try new colors. Watching TV, there are so many African-American celebs wearing pink lipstick and I love it.
