  In April, Kristin and I both shared our Top 5 Spring trends, in case you missed it check out our posts here and here. As we promised, we went to our local Ohio Thrift Stores with a our lists to see if we could shop our favorite trends inexpensively. Guess what? We actually found some of our trend pieces, and most of our pieces doubled into more than one category. Take a look at what we found.

I couldn't resist the baskets of .89 cent hair accessories, and I must say I was excited to see this pic because my bun was POPPIN!!! LOL Sorry, sometimes it takes a picture to show you what you really look like.

The bohemian trend was actually the easiest to shop for, I found these pieces quickly. The top on the left is an authentic ethnic piece, not sure exactly where it's from, but it looks somewhat African to me. Kristin picked out the dress and bought it for me, I liked it in the store, but when I tried it on at home I liked it so much more.

 I love a boho piece especially when it seems like it could be one of a kind. I didn't find a lot in this category for myself,  but I could not leave without this vest covered in my favorite animal, the elephant. I loved that it had special handmade embroidery.  I can't wait to dress it up with a skirt or wear it with jeans.

This tunic was my absolute favorite, I fell in love with the print and the color. It can be worn in so many ways, when I go swimming I plan to wear it as a bathing suit cover up, or as a dress on one of these hot summer days. This floral shirt is not something I would normally pick out for myself, but it fit the spring trend, I can pair it with many things in my closet, and it's loose so it will be cool to wear this summer.

While my "Fun Florals" could probably have been included in the "Floral Boho", I decided that the oddness of a pair of bright floral culottes and a floral/ paisley skirt deserved it's own category. The culottes more than anything are like nothing I have ever seen before. I almost left them at the store but Christina convinced me that I could pull them off.

Mini skirts are my favorite thing about summer,  they are so comfortable, and when they have a  print you can pair it with a simple top and be stylish and comfortable. This one was a little big, but I don't think you can tell.

As soon as we walked in the store I spotted this wicker clutch and I quickly put it in the cart. It was in really good condition, and it's spacious. I've carried it a few times already, and it will compliment the other items I purchased.

Style Crush

This week's Style Crush features a fashionista and long- time friend. I have not seen her in many, many years, but we do stay in touch through Facebook. She has always been stylish, and lately I've been admiring her style and her new business venture. I love her concept of being a "Certified Thrifting Stylist". I chose to feature Shadiasha, not only for her great style, but we have some things in common, shopping on a budget and teaching others how to do the same thing. My take on FASHION:

Fashion is what you see in the store windows, on a mannequin or on T.V… Now style…style is what you personally do with that window fashion. Style gives me a sense to be myself, to express my mood without speaking a word, to be edgy, noticed, and DIFFERENT. When I get dressed I try to find piece/pieces that I know no one else will have or shall I say no one will have the confidence to wear.  Why match? Why do what everyone is doing? “Fashion isn't defined solely by our clothing choices, but is also conveyed through the way we carry ourselves, our personalities and our views of the world”.

Where have I been?

Growing up I was  ALWAYS asked “ what do you have on”? followed by a laugh or a chuckle, but it never changed who I was or what I thought of myself. I lived in the crazy streets of NYC where style is anything and everything and no one is the same because everyone is different, to the country roads of SC where things are more ordinary and identical , to the in-between of Columbus Ohio where there is a mixture of culture and lifestyles.

I am Passionate About

 “Passion is when you put more energy into something, than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart,” My new statement of life…….SEPTEMBER2NDS (Thriftlyfe) My passion comes from helping others. When I started Septemer2nds (Thriftlye) it was a sense of, I understand that everyone comes from different walks of life, everyone wants to look good and dress FABULOUS but can’t afford it or simply do not understand fashion and style. People tend to feel good when they look good and I’m passionate about self-esteem.  I have a ladies group that I plan events for each month. This year's theme is Brunch, Booze & Body. So this month I planned a ladies brunch at Matt the Miller, Grandview, Ohio. We ate, we drank and we laughed. I love this group of women because they are positive and funny. It is a time of the month when I know I will have fun and really let my hair down. It was kind of nice out so I lost my coat for the day and layered a few tops under a blazer. This is what I wore.

Kris's Closet

Friday my guy and I planned a day trip with my nephew to Lake Erie. We took him to the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton where we got to feed animals like buffalo, giraffes and zebras through the window of our truck. We watched pig races and checked out the other animal displays. We ran into a bad storm afterward, so we found an Irish Pub downtown Port Clinton called McCarthy's where we ate and rode out the weather. They have these delicious Scotch eggs there! The sun came back out and we walked around the area. I bought some items from the Fisherman's Wharf Bait and Tackle shop that gave me jewelry inspiration. We stopped in Great Lakes Popcorn Co. where we tasted several different flavors of popcorn and left with a couple bags. Then we took the little man to the MarbleHead Lighthouse where we took a ton of photos. The trip ended at Tofts Ice Cream in Sandusky as it usually does when it's just me and Leo in the Lake Erie area. I took my photos near the lighthouse. This is what I wore.

I wanted to be casual and comfortable since we were going to be around animals. I was inspired by the whole idea of a safari and went with a khaki green colored ruffle and studded tank that is originally from New York & Co and denim skinnies that I cuffed by Paige. Find a similar tank here. I paired my outfit with mostly neutral colored accessories. My bucket hat and cross-body bag are both made of straw. They are thrift store finds. I paid $1 for the hat and $2 for the purse. Find a similar hat here and an even cuter purse here.   My bangles are a combination of thrift finds, cultural festival finds and the colorful ones came from Shoetique. The lucite ring is an old piece from Forever 21. My earrings were $1 from the Circleville Former Fireside Inn Yard Sale House. My metallic thong hemp wedges, I paid $2.50 for at a Treasure Sale at a church this past spring. They are by Kenneth Cole Reaction.

Saturday I spent most of the day doing household chores and gathering things for my ladies night meeting. I met some friends at Danes Dessert Cafe where we had sweets and talked about future events and randomness. I had a great time laughing with ladies I had not seen in a while. Laughter is the best medicine!
I took these photos in front of the house hours before I left. It was sunny out so I sat outside a while to get some vitamin D. This is what I wore.

I am not a huge fan of winter but I love winter clothes and accessories. Boots are my favorite kind of footwear.  I love to wear bright colors all winter to keep myself in a great mood. Color is known to very much effect a person's mood.

I started with my favorite pair of denim. They are Skyline Skinny jeans by Paige. I got them from Nordstrom.

The sweater, I bought in Dayton at the Goodwill in the Oregon District. It was $3. I loved the colors and the large hounds-tooth pattern. My guy hates this sweater and many of you will probably as well. It is a Rafaella sweater from the 80's. I found this jacket a month ago at the Ohio Thrift Store. I paid $2.50 for it on a half off Wednesday. It is a colorful hounds-tooth cropped blazer by Ann May.  It is my favorite blazer at the moment so expect to see it again in the near future. I did not locate anything similar.

My earrings were given to me by my sister's friend many years ago.
