Chris's/Kris's Closet (Kristin) August 29, 2014

Kris's Closet

In this blog post you will get a glimpse of pieces in my closet, learn where I found them
 and where I wore them.
My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

It has been a while since either of us has posted and the summer is coming to a close. My apologies. I have had a very busy summer exploring the city with my nephew and the state with my big guy. Honestly, I have been more comfortable than stylish in most occasions and when I did get dressed, I was so in the moment that I didn't take the time to pose for photos. Well, this past Friday I went to the Fashion Meets Music Fest in Columbus. With the season changing, I took advantage of the clearance rack at Forever 21 and put together a quick outfit. Literally, I was in and out in less than twenty minutes. For the Fest I wanted to be stylish ad fun since it was both a fashion and music festival. The shirt and skirt was around $19 including tax. This is what I came up with.

Shirt: Forever 21 clearance rack $7
Parrot Skirt:  Forever 21 clearance rack $10
Belt: 80's vintage (I added the red wooden bead)
Lace Bra: Victoria's Secret
Ear cuff: My late father's jewelry box
Necklace: Vintage
Bracelets:hautelook.com
Sunglasses: D&G Aviators
Handbag: Thrift Store
Shoes: Believe it or not I am wearing Naturalizer slide on wedges!

Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!
Kris,

Fashion Meets Music Fest Highlights!

I really enjoyed the Festival. I love fashion and music both so much that the idea of this festival was a dream. I have to say while the festival was entertaining, it fell a little short for me. I spent all of Friday there and felt the festival could have been better organized. Maybe I had high hopes. Since the Festival is very new, I expect that it will only get better. The positives were learning of the different fashion groups in the city along with the designers that utilize their resources. One of my favorite showcases was Torn Angel which was a part of the Alternative Fashion Mob showcase on Friday. The music portion was even better, I saw Michelle Williams and was so enamored by her.  I have always been a fan of Destiny's Child, specifically Kelly and Beyonce but I became a fan of Michelle that day. She was charming, sweet and felt so relatable. She even walked into the crowd where she shook hands, hugged and took selfies with the crowd. I left wanting to purchase her album. It comes out this month on the 9th.

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample,a month ago we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus,Ohio. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. The best way to describe us if personalities were colors would be red and hot pink. I am the red personality because I am usually wild, passionate and bold with fashion and in life. My name is Kristin. Welcome to my closet!

Sunday I went to check out the Dublin Irish Festival. I was not that impressed. I felt like it was seriously over priced. You pay $10 to park and $10 per person before you have even stepped into the festival. Anyhow, the fella and I walked around for a little over and hour then left to check out a wholesale department store called Roses. Then we went for a walk in Westgate Park and made dinner together. We took these pictures at the festival and at Westgate Park. This is what I wore.
I wore a magenta beater dress that I got from Target a couple years ago with a short sleeve mustard and white cardigan from New York & Co, also a few years old. I found a similar color graphic beater dress @
http://www.madeindetroit.com/collections/womens/products/beater-dress-fuchsia. Since it is late in the summer I did not locate any short sleeve cardigans but mustard long sleeve cardigans are in h&m and many other stores for fall.

My earrings are second hand from Timber Tunes in Johnstown, Ohio. I found some similar earrings @ http://www.etsy.com/shop/rockspapermetal?ref=seller_info

My belt I featured last month on a Kris's Closet. I bought it from an Etsy seller. I found some similar cute colorful belts on etsy @ 1. http://www.etsy.com/listing/74885010/vintage-rainbow-colored-fabric-braided?ref=sr_gallery_27&ga_search_query=+colorful+belt&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=all
2. http://www.etsy.com/listing/96078284/vintage-braided-rope-belt-frog-buckle?ref=sr_gallery_38&ga_search_query=neon+belt&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_page=4&ga_search_type=all
My neon knit bracelet is my creation. You can find it @http://www.etsy.com/listing/96825894/knit-covered-wooden-bangle-cotton-candy My lego ring is from etsy as well. You will find lots of options if you search lego rings on http://www.etsy.com/
My purse is Louis Vuitton. It is the Monogram Multicolore Canvas Alma from 2005. The updated one that they sell now is @  http://www.louisvuitton.com/front/#/eng_US/Collections/Women/Handbags My shoes I have featured a few times in Kris's Closet. They are Naturalizers. I have had them for many years and have just started really wearing them.
My glasses are my go to pair of D&G aviators that I bought at Nordstrom. I have worn them in a lot of Kris's Closet blogs. The style is (6065). These are from last year but I found the same style online @ http://us.sunglassesshop.com/d-and-g/6065/brown-29373/11401.aspx
This concludes another Kris's Closet! Thank you for stopping by!

Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!
Kris,

I saw this Sunday at the Festival. This sand sculpture was sponsored by Bob Evans for the Dublin Irish Fest. So much detail!

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample, we decided to open up our closets to the world as well.

Sunday I went to Utica to pick peaches with the fella but a storm came and dashed our dreams. Instead we went into the Legend Hills Orchard's market and got some that were already picked and ready to go along with some other goodies. Afterward we stopped at a few Goodwill thrift stores in Utica and Johnstown as well as an antique shop where some of these pictures were taken. We had a late lunch at 62 BBQ and ended our day at a cookout at my friend's home. This is what I wore.
The strapless denim jumper is from American Apparel. You can find the jumpsuit @ http://store.americanapparel.net/rsacm301.html It comes in two color options. The 80's vintage neon belt I found on etsy. I located some similar belts on etsy @ http://www.etsy.com/listing/96078284/vintage-braided-rope-belt-frog-buckle?ref=sr_gallery_23&ga_search_query=neon+belt&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_page=4&ga_search_type=all  and

The glasses are D&G, the same ones I wore in my closet blog from the day before on 7/14. The neon knit and beaded earrings are from ChristinaKristin Cotton Candy Collection. You can find them @ http://www.etsy.com/listing/103173180/rainbow-neon-beaded-hoops-with-knitted The neon lime green scarf is a long $5 piece from Shoetique, 3760 East Broad St. Columbus, Ohio. I found  similar scarves @ http://www.solidcolorneckties.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=NI00SI-0011&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&gdftrk=gdfV25102_a_7c1455_a_7c6599_a_7c4395&gclid=CIak5qznnrECFYao4Aodyw3ofA and

These shoes are being revisited. I wore them last Sunday as shown in my closet blog about last Sunday's outft. They are Naturalizers and super comfortable. I gave similar shoe options in 7/8 blog. My new furry friend from Timber Tunes, the antique shop in Johnstown also makes an appearance to the right.
My bag is Louis Vuitton. It is the original Monogram Multicolore Canvas Alma before they updated it by removing the front pocket and before it was marked up $1000 more. It  was my graduation gift from my father when I graduated in 2005 from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. He passed away before I graduated and this was how I treated myself for a job well done with a portion of the money left to me. You can find the updated version of this bag @ http://www.louisvuitton.com/front/#/eng_US/Collections/Women/Handbags. It is one of my favorite bags and has sentimental value, I have been carrying it a lot recently so the leather on it is finally stained with oils from my hands. The neon pink lego resin ring I'm wearing was ordered from a jewelry designer on etsy. It comes in several color options. You can find it @ http://www.etsy.com/shop/BadAttitudeJewelryCo or search lego rings on http://www.etsy.com/ The neon knit bangle is also on etsy @ http://www.etsy.com/listing/96825894/knit-covered-wooden-bangle-cotton-candy It comes in a few color combinations. It is another ChristinaKristin Cotton Candy Collection piece.

That concludes another Kris's Closet. Thank you for stopping by.

Be blessed! Be free! Be fashionable!

Kris's Closet

Inspired by great bloggers like Folake of Style Pantry and Tamia of The Style Sample, we decided to open up our closets to the world as well. We are ChristinaKristin of Columbus. We are two women close in age, with two different takes on style and completely different personalities. The best way to describe us if personalities were colors would be red and hot pink. I am the red personality because I am usually wild, passionate and bold with fashion and in life.  Christina is hot pink because she is usually feminine, fun, sweet and romantic in style. That description reflects in life for her as well. That is why are logo is hot pink and red bubbles with our names ran together but separated in color. My name is Kristin and welcome to my closet.

Sunday was about 92 degrees and I had plans to take my nephew to the Dayton Air Show with my fella. We got there and had hot dogs and funnel cake. Then we started taking tours of the planes. The first plane was a military medical aircraft and this is where I did my shoot.
I wore a loose fitting tank with the image of an African girl and the words Nostalgia for Africa by Muchacha. An ex bought me this top in New York about six years ago. I loved the image of the African girl. I thought she was very striking. The tie die like, a-line skirt I got last summer. It's New York & Co. Some similar tops and skirts are listed below.

These earrings I got from a vendor at the Macy's festival last year. She had some fun and amazing pieces. She will probably be there this year. I hope! The earrings are wood pieces on thick wire. Here are some similar options if you like these from my favorite etsy sellers.

These are some of the most comfortable shoes. Sorry this is a one dimensional picture of them. They are slide in wedges. They are Naturalizers. Yes I said it! I know most of us look at the brand as old lady shoes. But these didn't look so old lady to me when I found them a couple of years ago at the Ohio Thrift Store on Alum Creek. They had brand new boxes of them and they also had them in lilac. I bought both colors. I tend to do that if I love something especially when the price is right. If you are looking for a cute and comfy mustard or yellow wedge, I found some similar styles.

This is a straw clutch I found the day before for $1 at Clothes Gallery, a thrift store in Circleville. It is trimmed with a rainbow fabric. It was made in Macau. I just learned that is located in China. LOL! It wasn't really practical for the event I went to but I surrendered to fashion over comfort and practicality. My copper cuffs are from many places from thrift shops to the gift shop at the outside drama,Tecumseh. Here are some options for copper bracelets and straw clutches.

I wanted to be as comfortable as possible since I was doing a lot of walking outside and in incredibly hot weather. This look is bohemian, one of my favorite styles. Thank you for stopping by to read Kris's Closet.

Kris,

The Blue Angels at the Dayton Air Show 7/8/12
